Sheila Posey, TBLS - BCP
(Texas Board of Legal Specialization - Board Certified Paralegal)
(Texas Board of Legal Specialization - Board Certified Paralegal)
I have more than 40 years of legal experience, including 30 years as a family law paralegal. I received my Board Certification in Family Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2000. From 2014 - 2018, I served as the Chair of the e-Newsletter Ad Hoc Committee for the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas. I was honored to be awarded the “Outstanding Committee Chair Award” in 2015 and 2017. Currently, I am a member of the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, and the Texas Bar College.
With my experience, I bring an abundance of knowledge combined with “in the trenches” experience necessary to provide contract, freelance paralegal services to Texas attorneys. I am detail-oriented, organized, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Professional Background & Career
My career in law began as a legal secretary in early 1979, when I worked for former State Representative, Roger Knight, Sr., a solo-practitioner attorney in Madisonville, Texas.
From 1983-1986, I worked as a legal secretary for W. R. Malone a solo-practitioner attorney in Huntsville, Texas.
In May 1986, I began working for Jimmie P. Price as a legal secretary. In 2000, I became a Board Certified Paralegal, certified in the specialty area of Family Law, by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. I have maintained my continuing legal education and have been re-certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization every 5 years since being certified.
I worked for Jimmie P. Price for 37 years, until June 2023, when he transitioned his practice from litigation to mediation.
I have a passion for the law and the administrative and support tasks with which attorneys often need assistance. I understand the legal requirements attorneys have, and how to most effectively help them run a successful practice and serve their clients’ legal needs. I have the ability to empathize with the clients I serve.
I now work freelance as a 1099 contract employee and can assist you and your paralegal with any aspect of your family law cases, from initial pleading through final order, without the long-term commitment of a full-time employee.
No matter what size your legal practice is, I'm certain that increasing efficiency while keeping costs down is a top priority for you — and an ongoing juggling act in today’s highly competitive legal marketplace. The pressure to control costs and respond to changing client dynamics, may present you with the need to hire a contract paralegal to help you or your staff paralegal meet a looming deadline and improve your bottom line.
Hiring a contract paralegal allows you to pay for only the work you need, when you need it.
I would be delighted to speak with you to discuss how I can help you in your practice!
